Donorbox uses USD pricing for all plans globally, including UK charities. The Standard plan is free with a 2.95%–3.95% platform fee per donation. Yes — Stripe supports UK charity accounts directly. You apply for a standard Stripe account and process donations using Stripe Checkout or the Stripe Payment Element. There is no additional platform to pay. Stripe's standard processing fees for UK cards are 1.5% + 20p per transaction. For EU/international cards, the rate is 2.5% + 20p. Stripe does not charge a platform fee — you pay only for payment processing.

Stripe itself does not provide a Gift Aid form — that is a separate data capture requirement. Yes — Stripe Billing fully supports recurring monthly donations without a third-party platform. Donors select a monthly amount, their card is charged automatically each month, and you receive the donation minus only Stripe's processing fee. Recurring donations can be managed directly from your Stripe dashboard — you can see active subscribers, pause or cancel on a donor's request, and export for reporting.

The cheapest way to accept online donations is a direct Stripe integration — paying only Stripe's standard processing fees (1.5% + 20p per UK card transaction) with no platform fee on top. Donorbox Standard adds 2.95%+ per transaction; Donorbox Pro adds $150/month plus 1.75%+ per transaction. JustGiving charges 5%+ of donations. PayPal Giving Fund offers reduced fees for registered charities but has slower payouts and less donor data access. A custom Stripe donation page has a one-time build cost but the lowest ongoing cost of any option.

For most UK charities processing over £15,000/year in online donations, direct Stripe integration saves more money annually than Donorbox Standard — and that saving grows every year. Against Donorbox Pro, a custom Stripe page saves money from day one by eliminating the £1,416/year subscription and per-donation fees. Donorbox's advantage is speed of setup with no technical build. However, a custom Stripe donation page has a one-time build cost that pays for itself within months at typical UK charity donation volumes, after which you save the full platform fee every year indefinitely.

Migration involves three steps: building your new Stripe donation page (we handle this); exporting your recurring donor data from Donorbox and migrating active subscriptions to Stripe (this requires contacting recurring donors to re-authorise their payment method — standard practice for platform migrations); and updating your donation links across your website, emails, and social profiles. We manage this process and provide donor communication templates to make it as smooth as possible.

With Donorbox, your donor data is held on Donorbox's platform. You can export it, but Donorbox retains it and their terms govern how it is used and stored. With a direct Stripe integration, all transaction data lives in your Stripe account, which you own and control completely. Your Gift Aid declaration data is stored in your own system. This gives your charity full data sovereignty over your donor relationships and is cleaner from a UK GDPR perspective.

A standard charity Stripe donation page — including Gift Aid capture, preset amounts, one-time and monthly recurring options, confirmation page, and email receipts — typically takes 2–3 weeks from kickoff to live. This includes design, build, Stripe account setup, testing across devices and payment methods, and deployment.
